Apart from that, this article will also take a look at a major run of Roman Reigns being ended, a massive new gimmick for an underrated Superstar, and interesting details about a possible new signing by WWE.
So without any further ado, let us dive right in and take a look at the biggest stories, rumours and updates from WWE today:
#5 Roman Reigns’ 355 day-long run ends in WWE
Last week on SmackDown, Kevin Owens and Otis defeated Roman Reigns and Jey Uso via DQ. This was the first time in 355 days that Reigns lost a non-Royal Rumble match on television.
Even though The Big Dog did not compete from February to August due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, he still had a 15-match winning streak which was broken on SmackDown.
As pointed out by Danny Hart of SportsKeeda, the reason for his Royal Rumble loss not being counted is that WWE doesn’t count battle royal losses when talking about winning streaks.
Roman Reigns viciously attacked Jey Uso and Kevin Owens after the match. It will be interesting to see what route the storyline with Jey Uso and Roman Reigns takes after The Tribal Chief beat his cousin on the blue brand.
Roman Reigns will now be taking on Kevin Owens at the upcoming WWE PPV - TLC for the Universal Championship.
#4 Keith Lee reveals backstage story of being punched by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon
Keith Lee has been making quite a name for himself on Monday Night RAW as of late. The Limitless One has been featured heavily on WWE RAW and has done a great job of showing fans that he is the most athletic ‘big guy’ on the roster today.
Speaking on the WWE 24 Documentary, Keith Lee shared an interesting backstage story involving himself and former WWE Champion Vince McMahon. Lee revealed that Vince McMahon once punched him playfully and he had the most hilarious reaction in return.
Keith Lee is known to be a popular superstar backstage with a good sense of humor, and the big man definitely took the joke well.
#3 WWE Superstar Elias teases a gimmick change
Last week on Monday Night RAW, we saw two of WWE’s best - Elias and Jeff Hardy - destroy each other in a Symphony of Destruction match. The match took a wild turn when Elias got electrocuted and was subsequently defeated by the Charismatic Enigma.
Though losing to a former WWE Champion is nothing to be ashamed of, it did feel perplexing that WWE chose to have Hardy go over Elias, who could have used a win to further his career. However, in a recent video, it has become clear that Elias’ loss on RAW could be the start of a new gimmick for him.
In the Twitter post, the former 24/7 Champion referred to himself as ‘Extraordinary Elias’ as well.
#2 Eric Bischoff ‘feels bad’ for WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns
Talking about Roman Reigns and his heel turn on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff revealed why he believes that the heel turn did not come at a perfect time. Ever since returning at SummerSlam this year, WWE’s Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has shown the fans a new side to himself.
WWE fans had been clamouring for a Reigns heel turn for a long time and he has proven in his current run why he is one of the best heels in the business today. Here is what Eric Bischoff had to say:
Bischoff also stated that he is very glad that the heel turn did take place even though the timing might be a bit off.
#5 Former IMPACT Wrestling star Trey Miguel joining WWE?
As reported earlier, former IMPACT Superstars Dez and Wentz of the group Rascalz have joined WWE. However, their third partner Trey Miguel has not been officially announced as a PC recruit.
Talking about the subject, Triple H stated that he does not want to talk about why people are not in the WWE. This could be taken as a hint that the third member of the Rascalz may not be headed to WWE after all.
While Dez and Wentz were mostly seen as a Tag Team in IMPACT Wrestling, Trey pursued a singles career.
