Before we get to those, we look at a former Champion who is shooting for her comeback and also Samoa Joe talking about Vince McMahon’s inputs during commentary. Let’s start with the two headline-makers of the day:
RAW Superstar wants to make NXT move
Kevin Owens loves NXT and will do anything for a return. He made his way to the yellow brand just a day before Survivor Series to help Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Dominic Dijakovic in the main event of NXT Takeover: War Games against The Undisputed Era.
Talking on WWE The Bump, he revealed that he would love a return to NXT and if they throw in an opportunity for the NXT title, he won’t think twice about the move. He said:
2 massive in-ring returns confirmed for SmackDown
The Usos returned to SmackDown last week to help their cousin, Roman Reigns against King Corbin and Dolph Zigger. Now, WWE have confirmed that they will be making their in-ring return this week to face the two men they attacked last week.
This will be their first match since July 2019 and the first on SmackDown since May 2019 – they (along wirth Reigns) had faced Daniel Bryan, Elias, Rowan & Shane McMahon in a 4-on-3 handicap match at a Live Event.
Samoa Joe on Vince McMahon talking while he’s on commentary
Samoa Joe filled in at the RAW commentary table for a couple of weeks before he was attacked by AOP. He was nursing a thumb injury at the time and was out of action when he took the mic to join Vic Joseph and Jerry Lawler.
Talking to Corey Graves on After The Bell, Joe spoke about how distracting it is when Vince is talking on the headset while they are commentating. He said:
“Also, patting Vic on the back, making sure he’s not tearing up between commercial breaks. That’s another part of my duties and job – didn’t know that. King [Jerry Lawler] is great, he just does his thing, he’s in his own world.”
Nia Jax set to make her return soon
Nia Jax has been out for some time now but it looks like she will be making her return soon. The former RAW women’s champion has been out for nearly 8 months after suffering ACL tears on both her knees.
Cageside Seats now report that she is very close to making her comeback and is shooting WWE videos. They believe that it is a documentary or a vignette that will be used when she is ready to make her return.
With WWE shooting a documentary or a vignette, her return at Royal Rumble seems to be ruled out. There is no report right now on who she will be facing upon her comeback as both the champions are currently in a feud.
Moreover, she was not involved in the WWE Draft in 2019 and thus, she is not a member of RAW or SmackDown right now.
Triple H open to CM Punk and AJ Lee’s return to WWE
Triple H is always looking for whatever is best for business and is open to working with anyone who can make WWE better than it currently is. CM Punk and AJ Lee are still the fan favourites and the WWE Universe chants their names in arenas even though they left years back.
In a recent media conference call, Triple H revealed that he is open to working with both Punk and AJ Lee. He said:
Triple H isn’t the first person from WWE management to echoe these sentiments. Stephanie McMahon also recently spoke about a possible return for the couple.
Kurt Angle confident of Jason Jordan’s comeback
Kurt Angle has revealed that he is confident that Jason Jordan will be returning to the ring soon. He was talking to Chris Van Vliet when he claimed that the former tag-team champion was doing well.
The Hall of Famer revealed that Jordan was having some difficulties with circulation and was unable to use his left hand well. Angle went on to say that he has got to wait a little longer before making his in-ring return.
Edge and Paige have also been linked with an in-ring return like Daniel Bryan but they are just rumors at this point. Edge is reportedly working with the WWE doctors and has also been seen at a lot of WWE tapings.
As for Paige, her mother has ruled out an in-ring return and made it clear that there is no chance of that happening either now or in the future.
