One of the biggest storylines heading into the show surrounds the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which Charlotte Flair won from Carmella in a Triple Threat match at SummerSlam before being attacked by her best friend, Becky Lynch. As for this week’s in-ring action, The New Day will get another opportunity at the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The Bludgeon Brothers, this time in a No Disqualification match, and Jeff Hardy will finally go one-on-one with Randy Orton in the first encounter of the night....

Raw needs to get back to being the must-see show it used to be in order to compete. It went up against the Presidential debate too this week but coming off an interesting PPV, could it rise up and give us an exciting show? SmackDown is leading into No Mercy in a couple of weeks and needs to build momentum for their second PPV as WWE Backlash was a forgettable outing for the blue brand....

If that doesn’t make you feel old, nothing will! With The Undertaker and Edge both promised for the landmark show, it’s already an uphill battle for Raw to pull it out of the bag and break the deadlock. It’s currently 8-8 in my scoresheet since the brand split. Last week, I controversially named Raw as the winner of the weekly battle. I thought it was more entertaining, had better matches than SmackDown and I tried my best to put my points across cohesively....

Paige also revealed that she spoke to WWE management about it, and they unanimously agreed that he should be fired. Paige said she spoke to AJ Styles and he begged her not to fire Joe as he wanted to dish out the punishment himself. Paige agreed and said the match was on. Meanwhile, footage of AJ Styles in his house played. He said that he couldn’t make it to SmackDown Live because he needed to protect his family from Samoa Joe....

He then ordered Charlotte to go back to the locker room as it did not concern her. Triple H said that the only way she could get her suspension reversed is if she went to the doctor and got medically cleared. He ordered her to go home, and before he could leave the ring, Becky asked Triple H how his wife, Stephanie was after getting punched in the face on RAW....

The Usos congratulated The New Day on a great match before we headed for a Fatal Four-way bout to crown their next opponent. Los Lotharios vs. Cesaro & Mansoor vs. Jinder Mahal & Shanky vs. The Viking Raiders - No.1 Contender’s Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship The Usos hit Erik and Mansoor with superkicks as the match began before joining the commentary team. Mansoor and Humberto were in the ring early on and the former got an early atomic drop before Shanky and Erik came in....

It seems there would be a minimum of four title changes at the SummerSlam PPV. In case you didn’t know… SummerSlam is usually the time when general interest levels pick up after a slump that is usually experienced after WrestleMania. This year’s card has something for everyone and has shaped up to be a potentially entertaining show, however long it may seem to the fans. In case you didn’t know… Hulk Hogan recently appeared at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia where he was seemingly reaccepted by the WWE Universe and was even reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame ahead of this year’s Extreme Rules since WWE believes enough time has now passed for the former World Champion to be accepted once again. Hogan has been mentioned by WWE on TV or on Social Media since Crown Jewel, which has led many fans into wondering whether or not The Hulkster will be making any future appearances....

He would go on to claim the Raw Tag Team Titles with Seth Rollins before he was forced out of the ring by a scary neck injury. Initially Jordan’s injury status was downplayed by the WWE and even Jordan’s own partner....

According to Cageside Seats, neither of these women may have a match at Extreme Rules. The site also speculates that they may not be present at the pay-per-view in any capacity at all. In case you didn’t know… Sasha Banks and Bayley came up through the NXT system where they dazzled and put the brand on the map with their impressive performances. They were called up to the main roster and had runs with the RAW Women’s Championship....

With Roman Reigns out of WrestleMania 35 to combat a real life opponent, the question is, who will step up to the main event in his place? Original rumours had suggested that Roman Reigns and The Rock would main event WrestleMania 35. In case you didn’t know… Roman Reigns has been a mainstay in the main event of WrestleMania for many years now. Whether he’s in a title match or not (like his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33), he almost invariably closes WWE’s biggest show....

Seth Rollins defeated Matt Riddle at Clash at the Castle and is now set to face United States Champion Bobby Lashley next week on RAW. Unfortunately, The Visionary is seemingly not being considered as a challenger for the Undisputed Universal Championship. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens allegedly won’t be part of the main-event picture for now. 3) Potential bad news for Seth Rollins Seth Rollins has become the backbone of the red brand over the past few months....

While fans have hated all three of his runs as the Universal Champion because of his part-time schedule, he still manages to get massive standing ovations every time he makes a return to the ring. Lesnar recently lost the Universal Championship to Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. However, it does not look like the feud between the two will be carried forward as Seth Rollins will reportedly face either Braun Strowman or Drew McIntyre next....

In case you didn’t know… Braun Strowman hasn’t wrestled since mid-November when the ‘Monster Among Men’ was forced to undergo surgery to take of bone spurs in his elbow. Strowman had already been scheduled to face then-acting General Manager of Monday Night RAW Baron Corbin. However, when TLC came about, Strowman was still unable to compete and with the match being No DQ, got help from Bobby Roode, Chad Gable, Kurt Angle....

Writing on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp has revealed that the match was originally supposed to be between Liv Morgan and Ember Moon, but Vince McMahon cancelled it at short notice, via Michael Hayes, because he did not want Morgan to appear in front of a live crowd before she had debuted her new character. WWE rarely asks Superstars to compete in matches without a warm-up. In this case, Otis and Tucker were not prepared for in-ring action, which explains why they wore tank tops and shorts instead of their usual gear....

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has provided an update on The Architect’s injury and the timeline of his return to action on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio.
